We at Brodie Contractors, Inc. strive toward continued excellence in the field of commercial masonry. Our primary goal is to provide accurate, timely and satisfactory work to the exact plans and specifications of our clients.
Calvin Brodie and Alton Vines founded Brodie & Vines in 1978. Both were graduates of Bunn High School and had experience as masonry apprentices. The local business had many successes including becoming a licensed general contractor in 1985. In 1989, due to dissimilar company visions, the company split. Calvin Brodie founded Brodie Contracts, Inc. that same year, which later became incorporated in 1992.
From 1993-1995 Calvin Brodie served as president of the North Carolina Masonry Construction Association (NCMCA). In 2009 he was inducted into the National Masonry Instructors Association (NMIA) Hall of Fame. As a company, we maintain a membership with the Masonry Contractors Association of America (MCAA) and the NCMCA.
Today, Brodie Contractors, Inc. employs over 300 people. Our work can be seen across central and eastern North Carolina. This includes buildings on the campuses of North Carolina State University, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Duke University, North Carolina A&T State University and East Carolina University, as well as numerous Wake County schools. Previous projects also includes the sound barrier walls on the I-440 Beltline in Raleigh, and many other high-profile jobs such as Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro, NC.
Brodie Contractors, Inc. is committed to encouraging and promoting a proactive safety culture, and providing a safe working environment. We assure that all employees receive safety training before beginning work with us, and provide regular re-training. Our Safety Director holds regular safety talks on all job sites. She also visits all job sites weekly to ensure that safety requirements are being met, and that all masons, labors, and superintendents have the proper safety equipment. We also have trained personnel on all of our job sites to perform daily scaffolding inspection.
Before joining our team in 2016, our Director of Safety worked as a Safety Inspector with the North Carolina Department of Labor for over 25 years, and Assistant Safety Director of the City of Durham for 2 years. She holds a Bachelors of Science in Occupational Safety & Health from North Carolina A&T State University. Her experience and expertise assure that we are up-to-date and in compliance with all OSHA regulations as well as any site specific safety policies.
