OUR HISTORY

Calvin Brodie and Alton Vines founded Brodie & Vines in 1978. Both were graduates of Bunn High School and had experience as masonry apprentices. The local business had many successes including becoming a licensed general contractor in 1985. In 1989, due to dissimilar company visions, the company split. Calvin Brodie founded Brodie Contracts, Inc. that same year, which later became incorporated in 1992.

From 1993-1995 Calvin Brodie served as president of the North Carolina Masonry Construction Association (NCMCA). In 2009 he was inducted into the National Masonry Instructors Association (NMIA) Hall of Fame. As a company, we maintain a membership with the Masonry Contractors Association of America (MCAA) and the NCMCA.

Today, Brodie Contractors, Inc. employs over 300 people. Our work can be seen across central and eastern North Carolina. This includes buildings on the campuses of North Carolina State University, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Duke University, North Carolina A&T State University and East Carolina University, as well as numerous Wake County schools. Previous projects also includes the sound barrier walls on the I-440 Beltline in Raleigh, and many other high-profile jobs such as Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro, NC.
